For nearly 70 years, Welmar was a celebrated piano brand, renowned for its craftsmanship and distinctive golden tone. Welmar pianos once filled community spaces across the UK, from schools and concert halls to churches and family homes, shaping generations of pianists.
However, with production ceasing in the 1990s, the brand has remained dormant for over 30 years. The challenge: how do you revive a legacy brand—honouring its heritage—while connecting with a new generation of musicians?
Our Approach —
To reposition and relaunch this cherished name, we began by delving into the archives—rediscovering stories of childhoods spent at the piano, budding musicians playing their first notes, and communities gathering for joyous singalongs.
This is more than a revival; it’s a rebirth. By embracing Welmar’s rich heritage while integrating modern technology and production techniques, we aimed to create a brand that bridges past and present—resonating with both longtime admirers and a new generation of musicians.
The Solution —
The Welmar brand has been meticulously reimagined with the same care and authenticity that once defined its instruments. Drawing from the past, we revived key visual elements from historic logotypes, paying homage to the original designs from the 1920s.
The new ‘W’ monogram, echoing treble clefs and lyres, serves as a timeless emblem of quality and craftsmanship. Discreetly adorning every Welmar instrument, it stands as a mark of excellence and defines the brand’s next chapter—respecting its legacy while embracing the future.
