Team Spotlight — Jon

Our Meet the Team series is back, shining a light on the talent shaping our creative work. This quarter, we’re thrilled to introduce Jon, a seasoned senior designer with deep expertise across property, lifestyle, and B2B brand creation. A pragmatic problem-solver with a passion for bringing ideas to life. Jon joined MONO in January and we sat down to see how he has found his first few months…

1. What drew you to MONO and how have you found your first few months?
Working with Rich, the work is to a very high standard and aligns with my creative philosophy. Really lovely group of people that are great to work with and produce beautiful work. A fun environment to create.

2. What excites you most about working in a creative environment?
A chance to influence lives. No day is the same and no brief is the same – the variety has always been the attractive side of being a creative.

3. Can you share a bit about your background and how your experience shapes your design perspective?
With over two decades of experience spanning sectors such as fashion, property, food & beverage, hospitality, and sports, I have consistently prioritised creating distinctive and coherent brand identities across various applications. This approach ensures that whether collaborating with a startup or a global event like the FIFA World Cup, the brand remains both recognisable and impactful. Maintaining brand consistency is crucial for building trust and recognition, as it ensures that the brand message remains cohesive across various platforms, reinforcing its identity in the minds of consumers.

I firmly believe that successful relationships are built on collaboration and partnership. By actively listening to clients and delving deep to understand their objectives and target audiences, I strive to clarify purpose, build meaning, and evoke curiosity and emotion through design. This collaborative approach not only fosters trust but also ensures that the final design resonates with the intended audience, creating a lasting impact.

4. What’s a unique or unexpected source of inspiration for your creative work?
Fashion editorial work from around the world.

5. What’s one design trend or innovation you’re excited to explore in your new role?
I’d love to look at an interactive installation in some way.

6. If you could describe your creative style in three words, what would they be?
Simplify to clarify

7. What’s the one goal or ambition you hope to achieve with MONO?
World domination ;) Only joking. To grow MONO into an agency that lasts, and builds a legacy in the industry for creating memorable brands that connect with their audience. So much so that someone like Unit Editions makes a book about us in the future!
